position: children’s program coordinator
reports to: education manager responsibilities: • administer teaching staff of 10, including interviewing, training, supervising, and evaluation. • create curriculum for bilingual and non french speaking students aged 1 year to 17 years. • select method and accompanying pedagogical material. • create supplemental materials for all levels including educational games and activities. • daily review, evaluation, and adjustments of lesson plans created by teaching staff. • ensure adequate class placement of students by administering language tests and conducting interviews with children and parents. • create, organize and supervise field trips for middle and high school. • organize and supervise 9 week-long summer in french program for kids and 4 week-long summer in french program for teenagers including hiring and training of staff as well as development and implementation of curriculum. • manage interns. • act as a liaison between parents, the teaching staff and the education department administration. • create, organize and supervise special workshops (recess workshops…etc). • organize and supervise cultural events for children in coordination with the programs department or/and the library. • after school program: keep in touch with charlot lucien and work together to modify program as needed); supervises teachers’ training. • 10-12 hours of teaching per week required. qualifications: • bilingual english-french • children teaching experience a must. • familiarity with american and french school system desirable • managing/training experience strongly desirable • some sales experience a plus • strong organizational and planning skills and attention to detail • excellent interpersonal skills/ ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically • strong leadership qualities and skills • ability to think outside the box and come up with solutions to accommodate various requests • extensive knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood • ability to develop rapport with children, parents, and co-workers • ability to develop a high-quality, age appropriate curriculum to successfully engage children and foster physical, emotional, cognitive and social development • strong group management skills with children • ability to conform to an established work schedule • ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner • ability to understand and follow instructions precisely • ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality • up to 12 hours of teaching per week required (seasonal) • familiarity with ms office suite required; experience with database systems desirable • sense of humor a definite plus please e-mail cover letter and resumé by august 15, 2010 to enunes@frenchculturalcenter.org. no phone calls please. |
