Celebrate La Quinzaine de la Francophonie by taking a journey through the sounds and rhythms of Senegal with Fatou N’Diaye. This all ages workshop will let participants discover the country’s rich culture through music and dance.
Fatou N’Diaye
Fatou N’Diaye-Davis, is the founder and director of the traditional West African dance company, Silimbo D’Adeane West African Dance and Drum Company. The company name, translates to "Sunrise on Adeane". Fatou was born, in the Cassamance region of Senegal in the village of Adeane. As a former member of the "Daniel Sorano National Dance Theatre" of Dakar, Senegal and two of its branch dance companies, Fatou has had the opportunity to perform for the President of Senegal as well as accompany him on official visits around the world.
Ms. N’Diaye-Davis has danced and acted professionally for over thirty-seven years. She currently resides in Boston where she brings her rich heritage to people of all ages. Fatou teaches at the Dance Complex in Cambridge; and has taught at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, Harvard University and various local schools.
